Brighton MeditatiOn Course
An In-depth meditation course on the flora, history, poems, and folklore of this sacred land. Each month we begin with a short talk covering diverse aspects of the ancient Celts and Druids, ranging from Celtic history, true Celtic art and Celtic use of woad. This is followed by a deep meditation on a native tree to deepen our understanding and connection with the natural world.
Meditation has become more associated with Eastern spirituality: in this meditation course we are drawing from authentic Celtic sources and from the classic and mystic traditions of the West to enhance a connection with the local sacred landscape. This group has now been running for over 6 years in Hove and always welcomes new people to step into the traditions of this land. To reach as many people as possible we only charge £5 for the evening whilst still offering experienced and expert tuition of over 20 years exploration from both tutors. To further support people in their practice I also offer a mail order Woodland Bard Course which gives detailed background information and spiritual practice guidance. You can also join us for fire ceremonies and Celtic fire retreats. Our monthly newsletter will also provide detailed information on the tree of the month delivered without any charge. Time: 7.30pm- 9pm. Location: Cornerstone Community Centre, Church Road, Hove, BN3 2FL. |
‘Ancient soul, embodied in a physical temple.
Unique individual that cannot be replicated. You are your Tradition. Every moment, every breath, new light emerges, new experiences unfold, new insights are born. You are your Tradition. Deep within you, in the wellspring of inspiration, deep knowledge enlightens you. You are your Tradition. Allow it to unfold, unfurl, like petals of a perfect flower, taking shape into a perfected expression of who you are. You are your Tradition.’ Jonathon Huet Woodland Bard Course |
About our Guest Speaker
Alan Cunliffe moved to Brighton to complete a science degree, and from the 1990's was drawn to exploring Celtic tribal traditions. Over the next 20 years he visited many special sites related to our Celtic and pre-Celtic ancestors in the South of England, Wales, Ireland and abroad. For the last 3 years he has been delivering short talks for Walk with Trees' Celtic Meditation Group. To be as authentic as possible the talks exploit the latest archaeology and a network of academics and use interpretation where there are gaps in hard knowledge. These talks cover diverse aspects of the ancient Celts and Druids, ranging from Celtic history, true Celtic art and Celtic use of woad. The talks are aimed at those unmoved by unappetising museums and for those with different levels of pre-existing knowledge. To attempt to bring the past to life and create a sense of the ancient celtic environment, he uses a mix of slides, replica or real objects and music- no one falls asleep!
